Any computer user needed at least once to look for a certain file or folder or to find a certain phrase inside a text file. Windows can help him do this but, unfortunately, it's not enough. The Windows search utility is a bit slow and includes a limited number of searching options. So, using a third party application would be a very good idea. A good choice would be PowerGREP. It's an application that can look for files and folders using various options, but the most important is the possibility to use regular expressions for defining search strings.

It's not a problem installing PowerGREP, as the process is intuitive and straightforward and it also completes fast. Versions of Windows ranging from XP to Windows 7 are supported by the application.

The interface of PowerGREP is a bit crowded, but still, finding a needed option is not a problem, as all the features are well organized. The program allows searching for files or inside of text files using various options, like literal text, regular expressions, binary data and so on.

For helping beginners, there is explanatory text available for most of the program's actions, which helps them get familiar with the application in the shortest time. The options section of PowerGREP allows modifying the program's functionality and also the look and feel.

It allows different types of searching options, including regular expressions. It also includes help text for allowing the user to get familiar with the program's features.

Cons:
Beginners will have some trouble using this application, because it requires knowledge about regular expressions.
